As you will be aware you are now in the Back Paddock. Occasionally the gates will be locked for Parks Victoria Works. If the gates are locked please write a note and not a DNF in your log. Australia has a large diversity of reptiles - according to Wikipedia, there are over 860 species.
The lizard is from the most diverse group of reptiles and can often be found in arid areas of Australia.
You will almost certainly have stepped over a few lizards already today.
