Artifacts - Rock pile Traditional Cache
GuelphHiker: I was checking my caches in this area today. The area around this cache has changed substantially due to fallen trees, branches and growth of vines, etc. Consequently it is a much more challenging hide than when it was placed in 2011. So I have decided to archive it rather than change the DT rating and picked up the cache today.

The "Artifacts" caches bring you to artifacts of a farm that was once on this property. It was a training farm for the Ontario Reformatory (which has since closed). Early farmers had to remove the rocks from the fields and the area near this cache was obviously a dump area for the rocks that were collected from the fields at the top of the hill. (The cache title is not a hint. No rocks need to be moved.)
This area has the largest stand of naturalized lilacs in Guelph. So it is particularly attractive in May when the lilacs are in bloom. This is a favourite dog walking area and you will almost certainly meet other hikers, dog walkers, joggers, and cyclists as you tour the area.
Parking is usually available at the trailhead (N 43 32.965 W 080 13.182). Follow the gently sloping main trail until you are you reach the trail junction (N 43 33.132 W 080 12.686). Then take the side trail partway up the hill. The cache is a camoflaged lock'n lock plastic container.
