*gln: ### ARCHIVING CACHE ###

Since you haven't repaired your cache I can only assume that your priorities have changed and you’ve gone in a different direction.

While I feel that we should hold the location for you we can't do so forever.
If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the VERY near future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Thanks,

Geocache Description:

A paved trail with nearby parking

Construction of the St. Louis, Salem and Little Rock Railroad began in 1872 and by 1896 included 54 miles of standard gauge, single track railroad and a Round house, located mostly in Dent County, of which about 41 miles were main line tracks and about 13 miles were branch line tracks. The main line extended from Cuba to Salem. There were three branch lines, extending from Howe's Station to Plank Iron Mine, about five miles, from Bangert to Smith's Bank, about three miles and from Goltra to Sligo, about five miles.
It was built to transport iron ore and lead from area mines to market, and later passenger service was added. In 1887, it was acquired by the St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad Co. and operated as the Salem branch of the "Frisco" line. Although the branch never reached Little Rock, the tracks were in operation for over 100 years aiding the economy and allowing people to travel from town to town.
The current trail was placed in 2000 by the city of Salem and is a little less than a mile long.
