Before we start, please ‘replace’ cache exactly as you found it and if necessary throw a few dead leaves / Pine needles on top to make sure its not visible, also ‘reseal’ the container correctly. Thanks.
The cache, a small PETling tube is hidden in Belleek woods which is situated along the west bank of the river Moy north of Ballina town, Belleek Bhéal Leice meaning "mouth of the flagstones.
To get here from Ballina follow the directions to Belleek castle hotel until you find yourself at the car park waypoint. From here on foot head down the slope towards the river on the main path which begins at the opposite end of the car park to the main entrance, the path soon turns to the left and is pretty straight from there on. After a very short distance of less than 100m you leave the path to climb to top of a high mound on your left, it is the highest point in the area.
The cache is hidden in ivy at the base of a tree on the edge of the top of the mound, from here you can see the car park through the trees. There is lots of evidence of where kids have been ‘building a fort’ of their own at the top. The tree in question is a forked Sycamore, you cant miss it once you are there, see spoiler picture if you wish. Keep an eye out for Squirrels I saw one near the car park when I was setting this up, they were reintroduced here in 2007 and seem to be settling in well.
Respect all the signs in the woods of which there are many even though there is evidence that not everybody does. Please let me know if the coordinates are not accurate. its tricky because of the trees, Thanks
