My first time to place a geocache. Decided to follow the standard recipe: city park, thorn bushes and mud... This is actually a very nice walk and there aren't too many thorn bushes at the very end. If you are into bird watching, bring the binos with you as the park has quite a wide variety avian inhabitants.
As you come within the 500 foot zone, you should find a bike path (dirt loop). Follow the path. Watch for a small open area enclosed within the loop. As you get close, there will be a fallen/rotting tree which you seek.
WARNING: I have been informed that there are now *lots* of thorn bushes. You have to pick your path carefully once you zero-in on the coordinates.
The cache is a small tupperware (VHS size) clear container with a tan lid. There is a log book/pencil/sharpener, a Geocaching disclaimer page, and a small bag of loot. Everything is in ziploc baggies--please be sure to reseal the baggies!
The park has two entrances: one is on the Dottie Lynn Parkway (Green Oaks) and has limited parking. The other is off in some neighborhood (Interlochen?) and has no public parking. Use the Dottie Lynn entrance unless you know the area and are biking/walking in.
Have Fun and Go Plant Some More Geocaches!
