The Green County Barn Quilts project started in 2008, and by the
end of 2010 the 100th barn quilt was installed. Barn quilts are
painted wooden squares (designed like one block of a real quilt
pattern), generally 8 x 8 feet in size. Some are located on
"working" barns, and others are displayed on "retired" barns. It's
not as challenging as geocaching, but hunting for the barn quilt
locations is a true adventure in experiencing the roads less
traveled of the Green County countryside.Farm purchased in 1960.
Barn was torn down & rebuilt by Neil on existing 20x20 stone
foundation. They have raised feeder steers over the years. The
cattle no longer roam the feedlot, but you may find a few
refurbished plows displayed on the lawn & tractors gathered
under the covered barnyard. This Barn Quilt is called John Deere
Delight.
