This cache was initially intended to be merely a maintenance run for my Burning Bright cache. However, when I discovered that cache to be as battered as it was, I elected to remove it, archive it and place the new items and container as a fresh cache.

The location I chose, West Tiger No. 3, is a moderate hike up from the trailhead. It is not especially difficult, but neither is it one that you'll want to attack unprepared. Plan for a 5-mile round-trip, with about 1900 feet of elevation gain on the ascent. The view is well worth the effort expended, however, especially on a clear day.

You should also be prepared to experience poor GPS reception all the way up to the Vista. Signal at the summit is outstanding, however. The cache is located close to the clearing at the top, but in order to better avoid accidental finds I had to move the cache into the trees. If you are having trouble with signal at the cache site, I would recommend moving out into the open until you can reacquire signal, and then heading back into the woods to the cache. I averaged several waypoints in hopes of getting the most accurate coordinates for the cache that I could, but as always, if you find that your coordinates differ from mine, please feel free to post corrections in your log.

When I hid this cache, there was well over a foot of snow on the ground in the area. As a result, the cache may settle some and the environs change somewhat from the posted pictures as the snow disappears. The container is a 30-cal. olive drab ammo can stenciled with the word "geocache" in yellow on multple sides. There is also a Geocaching.com "Official Geocache" sticker stuck to the outside.

On a final note, please keep in mind that the trails of Tiger Mountain are extremely popular. Use discretion when hunting, opening and rehiding this cache.
