I get pretty excited to actually place a cache that is sidewalk accessible and not under a lampost. I would like the final to have been a 1.0T but you will need a little help for the actual grab.
The only muggle issues you will encounter are from the two or three resisdents that might observe you from the west. Please pay attention to that when hunting for the final. Relocating the final on a puzzle like this would be a pain in the behind. Thanks for your consideration.
THE FINAL FOR THIS CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. It seems that the boat has been moved. The answer for "I" is Popeye.
I wanted to bring you to the home of this accomplished Nevadan. He is a retired neurosurgeon, former Nevada Lt. Governor and was an honorary consulate to Belize. He is a self-admitted eccentric, historian, scientist, mathematician and is very hospitable.
I had a geocache near here a few years ago but the “scarlet spider” issue became a problem. I have wanted to find another way to bring you here and have given this one a lot of thought.
I went back to the area around the home and took pictures and notes. As I was looking over the front of the residence Dr. Hammargren got into his little yellow convertible backed out of the drive and pulled up next to me. I told him what a fun place he had and he smiled and thanked me. He drove off down the street. I finished my “research” and left. That evening I found that my pictures were of no assistance and planned a return trip the next afternoon.
I pulled up in front of the house to find the doctor sitting on a bench along the driveway holding a can of gold spray paint. I approach him and asked him if he was aware of geocaching and he admitted to hearing of it but didn’t seem very interested in hearing more after I told him that I was working on a geocache. When I told him it was going to be about him and his passions he perked up.
I spent nearly two hours there with him and had a personal “working” tour of the inside of the property. We moved “mariachi” band members to the third floor, lay supports for some bridges and replaced benches to his liking. We moved the “white guy” mannequin further back on the “canoe” up on the third floor. He said that that guy represented himself and was “too far forward”. We went up and down and up and down three different sets of stairs which seemed to have no congruity. I got to ask questions, help out and was only able to see a glimpse of the memorabilia on the property.
I was aware of an annual “open house” when the doctor and his wife welcomed the public to come into their home and explore. I asked Dr. Hammargren about it and he said that it coincided with the Mexican “day of the dead”, Halloween and Nevada Day. He said it would be on the Sunday nearest October 31st and would be from 1-5 PM. What timing!
As I was leaving I asked if I could help him with anything else and he said, “Yeah’ find me a job.” I asked if it needed to involve a scalpel and he assured me that it didn’t. I was glad to hear that. What a great afternoon I had with the doctor. I am sure he doesn’t remember my name because it wasn’t about me but I would not trade those two hours.
All of the answers required to complete the puzzle are available from the sidewalks on Sandhill and around the front of the doctor’s home. The final cache is hidden less than two miles from the original coords.
