Geocache Description:

A Cache that is Accessible from a Wheelchair

Back in the 1980's Wokingham Town used to have a decent Football Club, and had a relatively decent Stadium very near to this spot (some may remember the old "Pin and Bowl" pub that used to stand near here too.

Back in those days I used to watch a fair few games here and remember the likes of George Torrance (best player I ever saw in a Wokingham shirt), Terry Brown and Phil Alexander. Phil Alexander had legs like tree-trunks, and it wasn't uncommon to see him scoring from free-kicks that were well behind the centre line - he had a shot like a rocket. His kick was so hard that later in his career he trialed for American Football clubs and was very successful as a kicker with the London Monarchs.

Anybody attending in those days will remember Old Ginger standing behind the far goal with his rattle desperately trying to keep his false teeth in. As well as the carnage caused by the Cardiff City supporters when they rioted in 1982 when Wokingham almost beat them in the first round proper of the F.A. Cup - the referee had to call the players off the pitch for about half an hour shortly before the end of the game when the Cardiff supporters invaded the pitch because Wokingham were winning 1-0.

Anyhow most of you won't care less about any of this, you'll just want the cache...
