Geocache Description:

This series is intended to introduce people to lovely parts of the Dorset Coast so that they can enjoy the beautiful scenery and learn some of the history. This one is at Fort Henry, Studland, Dorset;a World War 11 Historic Site

At Fort Henry is an important World War 11 relic, being a concrete lookout point, built by Canadian engineers in 1943 overlooking Studland Bay at Redend Point.
It is 90 feet long with concrete walls almost three feet thick.It has a recessed observation slit 8o feet long on the seaward side.On 18th April 1944,Winston Churchill, General Montgomery and General Dwight D Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Invasion Forces watched a rehearsal of the Normandy Landings which took place on 6th June.

Fort Henry can be reached by a footpath from the Studland Middle Beach car Park , a quarter of a mile to the North.
THE CACHE CANNOT BE ACCESSED FROM THE BEACH
People in wheelchairs should be able to get right up to the cache but may need a little help reaching it.
The cache is placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.
