Osvad dam regulates the water level in Suldalsvannet to between 67.0m and 68.5m AMSL. Suldalsvannet is a magazine to Hylen hydroelectric powerstation, and receives water from Kvilldal hydroelectric powerstation.
The dam has three hinged flaps that regulate the flow requirements of Suldalslågen
The dam is part of Ulla-Førre development.
