There used to be another cache on this spot, which was unfortunately destroyed when a fire was lit in the surrounding area.
That cache was the first one my kids did with me, and they were sad to see what happened to it, and so we decided to put a little cache back to mark the space. If the owner of the previous cache ever wants to resurrect the original cache, I will be happy to transfer it back to them.
Since the area was recently burnt out, there is very little cover either for the cache, or for cache hunters, and the location is very popular with tourists so retrieving it undetected may be a challenge.
The replacement cache was originally a 'log only' bison tube, but has now been upgraded to a 'small' container with room for geocoins and small travel bugs.
There should be plenty of parking right near the path that leads down to the cache. The path is very short, but also quite rough and eroded. You will need to go a little bit off the path, but no need to get close to the rock edge, or into private property.
Once you have found the cache, and have admired the view from the lookout, you can follow the walking track either west to Leura Cascades (30 minutes walk), or east to Gordon Falls (10 minutes walk), both of which have picnic tables, toilets, and kids play area.
