Bernard's Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Aussie Liahona: Sadly it is time, and appropriate, to archive this geocache. We brought you here because of the stunning views that are now on the other side of the trees and shrubs that have grown up right in front of the cache blocking the views completely. As we have archived our other cache just up the road, and also because this dirt road is currently almost undriveable for a regular 2WD vehicle with the most enormous string of potholes joined like beads on a necklace in several places.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Cheers and happy caching!

Geocache Description:

PLEASE HAVE YOUR CAMERA/PHONE READY IN CASE ANY MUGGLES APPEAR - THEN YOU CAN LOOK LIKE YOU ARE THERE TO TAKE A PHOTO OF THE BEAUTIFUL VIEW.

This cache is at a very scenic location where you will see the following:

St. Helena
CP 522 13 July 1882
Bernard McGettigan

You can lean on this railing while you sign the log and admire the immense views. The cache is a small bison container. Please replace out of sight.

NOTE: The cache is tethered, and on a recent visit I found it had fallen BESIDE the rail in the hole and was difficult to pull out. By poking the piece of wire that might be there down underneath the bison tube you can prize it upwards and it will come out. You might be able to prize it up with your pen or fingers if the wire is gone. Try to return it to the top of the rail in the gap. Many thanks!

Why here? Firstly, the views are stunning. Secondly, my grandmother had two of her children born in Lismore. One in Lismore in NSW and one in Lismore in Victoria. I believe that when her son was born in Lismore, NSW, they were living here along this hill, and I think, in this road. Thirdly, we already have a couple of caches nearby and we might as well have a few more to make a maintenance run more worthwhile, as well as to provide you, the geocacher, with some more beautiful views while you gain a few more smilies.
Happy caching.
