This park was originally named Davisville Park until 2004 when it was renamed after June Rowlands to commemorate her contributions to the city. It is a recreational hub for Davisville Village but there is really something for everyone. The park consists of a baseball diamond, tennis courts, playground, splash pad and many other areas to enjoy the day. Finding this cache will show you around the park, if you have time be sure to check out all the village has to offer.
June Rowlands was the 60th mayor of Toronto and the first woman to ever hold that office. She had previously been a long time city councillor, federal candidate, and chair of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Commission. In order to find this multi you will have to visit each of the flagged waypoint coordinates in the park and gather the answers to the following questions:
When was June Rowlands the President of Women’s Electors?
When was June Rowlands a part of the National Council of Welfare?
When was June Rowlands a part of City council?
When was June Rowlands a part of Metro council?
When was June Rowlands elected mayor of Toronto?
What year was the plaque placed?
What day was the plaque placed?
What is the street number of June Rowlands Park?
How many yellow flowers are in the mural?
How many pink flowers are in the mural?
What is the total number of flowers in the mural?
(To avoid confusion this does not include the purple and brown "cat tails".)
How many moose are in the mural?
How many letters are in the name of the person who the tree is dedicated to?
How many tennis courts are there?
How many columns hold up the pavilion at the splash pad?
Once you have obtained all of this information from the waypoints you will have to input them into the following coordinates to find the cache:
North 43° W.X
West 079° Y.Z
W = Number of tennis courts x [(Day in September plaque was placed) – (Year June Rowlands became a part of the metro council – Year June Rowlands became a part of city council)].
X = (Year June Rowlands became a part of council of welfare – Year June Rowlands became the president of women electors) x the number of letters in the name of the person the tree is dedicated to.
Y = (Year plaque was placed – Year June Rowlands was elected mayor of Toronto) + (Number of pink flowers in mural – number of moose in mural)
Z = (Number of yellow flowers in mural x total number of flowers in mural) + [(Street address of park/10) + (Number of columns holding up splash pad pavilion)]
The cache is located within 300m from the centre of the park, be sure to check the mural carefully for the number of flowers and watch for the BEDMAS in the calculations (especially for W). Happy Caching!
