Geocache Description:

A nice spot overlooking the Susquehanna just off the MDT. You will be taking a short hike (<1 mile), followed by a short, but steep climb. Going back is trickier than moving ahead.

Lancaster County Hiker on a York County Hike: People play this game for a variety of reasons. For me, geocaching represents a way to explore the natural beauty hidden around us. I've enjoyed the YCH series greatly. On those hikes that I find truly inspiring I look for a place to add another cache, to hopefully lure some of the LPC lovers out to join us. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy all of what York County has to offer!

This is my first hide. I've seen a lot of beautiful, interesting and unique spots in the short time I've been caching. While I love to see my smiley count go up, I've found that the caches I enjoy most involve hiking, preferably over challenging terrain, and reaching places that few people ever visit or get the chance to appreciate.

The Mason Dixon Trail provides some satisfyingly rugged terrain, and some absolutely spectacular sights. On my way with some friends to tackle a couple of Flaffle hides we took a little detour. It was a cool October morning and the river was covered in thick fog. Rising like islands floating in the clouds were the tops of the ridge on the other side of the river. After a bit of maneuvering I was able to take a seat on an island of my own, and enjoy a great view of the river and an old giant sitting in the middle.

This hide is not intended to be (to) difficult, but to bring you to a spot that you may not have been able to enjoy if you stick to the trail. Once you turn off put your GPS away. My island isn't hard to find. Please do your best to not rip up the foliage and leave the area in a state for the next person to enjoy.

Please do not attempt this cache in wet or icy conditions. Take your time and use caution both coming and going. While the majority of cachers should have no issue with reaching this spot, please know your limits and do not attempt this cache if you are not confident in your ability to do so. Bringing small children is not recommended unless there is more than one adult to supervise.

GPS accuracy did not settle for our group lower than 38 feet, but did lead one directly to the area. As previously stated you shouldn't need your GPS once there; however, as this is my first hide I'm happy to update them if anyone is able to take a better set. Please feel free to send me a message with any updates.

Congratulations to T C Mits on the FTF!
