Geocache Description:

The goal of this CITO is to remove trash from a reef, sort it from sea life, and send it to the dump.

On a recent Sunday afternoon snorkel we noticed a significant amount of trash on the reef off Ala Moana beach. For obvious reasons, this seems to be an area that is neglected by the regular trash clean ups in this beautiful park. We got to thinking that we would organize a submarine trash clean up!

We will divide up into 3 groups, so there is a job for everyone. The general idea is to divide the reef up into a grid and break up into teams of harvesters and transporters. The harvested trash will be brought onto the beach by our transporters where our team of separators will separate it from marine life.

Harvesters: Locate and extract the trash from the reef. Bring Snorkel/Scuba gear, dive gloves would be nice.

Transporters: Move the trash from reef to shore. Bring a people powered water craft. Kayak, Paddle board, Boogie Boards

Separators: Separate marine life from man made debris. Bring buckets tarps and latex gloves.

The high tide is very critical to this effort. Please meet at 10:00am sharp. Potluck to follow. Photobucket
