Amongst the Devils Club Mile is a small camo screw top tupperware hidden along the Turnagain Arm Trail between the Rainbow and McHugh Creek trailheads. The cache is also accesible from the Sunshine access point.
The cache is approximately 1.4 miles from the Rainbow trailhead. You will have 900 ft of elevation gain in the first mile of the hike. The remainder of the hike is easy.
Caching along the Turnagain Arm Trail can be challenging due to less than perfect gps reception. Those of you who have spent some time along the trail know what I mean! The coordinates for this cache were averaged for 4-1/2 minutes with my Oregon 450 and over 500 times with 13.5 ft of accuracy with a GPSmap 60Csx. The two GPS' were in near agreement on the coordinates. There was a 62 along with the group today and it was also in agreement.
There is a Soapstone bear in the cache for the FTF along with some other pins and things one might need for summer time caching!!
This cache is placed under Chugach State Park Permit #11-007.
