Geocache Description:

For many years now, I have been fascinated by the journeys of Lewis, Clark, and their men as they explored the American West in the early 1800s. Braving Indians, the elements, and mountain ranges they weren’t expecting, theirs is a story that is never dull or uninteresting. Here is a puzzle cache themed on their once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

The co-ordinates listed above are bogus. The actual co-ords to this cache are as follows:

N 35 AB.CDE
W 085 FG.HIJ

To fill in the missing co-ordinates, you must successfully answer the following questions. (For example, if you choose “John Adams” for question A, you would replace “A” in the co-ords above with “1”.)

If you do not know an answer to a question, I would recommend searching around on either Google or Wikipedia; you can find all the answers there.

A. Which President commissioned Meriwether Lewis to explore the West?

2-George Washington
1-John Adams
0-Thomas Jefferson

B. Who did Lewis choose to help him lead the Expedition?

0-Zebulon Pike
1-William Clark
2-Seamen (Lewis’ faithful & trusty dog)

C. What was the duration of the Expedition?

4-two years (1804-1806)
3-three years (1802-1805)
2-five years (1800-1805)

D. What did Lewis, Clark, and their men call themselves?

6-“Lewis & Clark’s Expedition”
7-““To the Missouri’s End” group”
8-“The Corps of Discovery”

E. Which mighty river did the Expedition ascend for much of its’ journey?

9-Mississippi
2-Missouri
1-Missoula

F. What tribe of especially hostile Indians did the Expedition meet with in 1804?

0-The Teton Sioux
1-The Nez Perce
2-The Shoshones

G. What was the name of the Expedition’s Indian interpreter and valuable guide?

7-Bull Moose
8-Laughing Water
9-Sacagawea

H. What great natural wonder did the Expedition have to portage around in modern-day Montana?

5-the Great Falls
6-the Montana Falls
7-the Missoula Falls

I. What did the explorers call their winter quarters near the Pacific Ocean?

6-Fort Hall
7-Fort Clatsop
8-Fort Mandan

J. True/False: the Expedition returned to St. Louis along exactly the same route from which they had come.

1-True
2-False

The actual cache, not far away at all, is a magnetic keyholder. If it wasn’t for this cache being a puzzle cache, I would list it as a 1/1.5. So once you figure out the co-ordinates, this should be a very quick park-n-grab find. BYOP, use stealth (as always!), and please replace as found. Have fun!
