One of the least known state parks in the area; Ashmere Lake
State Park has a 203-acre artificial lake with a public access boat
ramp. The lake, dam and 3 islands became property of state in
1979. There are 15 private cottages on state land, by
permit. |

The cache is on the island in the south section
of Ashmere Lake. The island is separated from the mainland by
a marshy area with a shallow stream. |
The best way to get to the island is by boat but
it is possible to get there by foot (at least when conditions are
right) hence the 4.5 terrain rating instead of a 5. I was
able get across by foot but you may get wet if you go that
way. |
Believe it or not, stealth may be required at
certain times of the year because there are private cottages on the
island and it is a small island. The land is public but the
cottages are private so please do not go near them. |
