Geocache Description:

This cache is located at Purisima Creek Redwoods OSP on the North Ridge Trail along the "Hikers Only" leg. The trail is wide and easily navigable except for a few places where tree roots cross the trail which would make it difficult for wheelchairs or strollers.

This cache is dedicated to Smokey Bear and Thomas who brought many years of unconditional love, happiness and joy to my life. They never came here (This OSP does not allow dogs) but it is a place they would have loved - full of lots of strange scents to keep the tails wagging and noses busy. Smokey Bear never had a chance to accompany me on my caching but Thomas did make quite a few trips with me and always looked forward to them. Whenever I am in a place like this, I think of them and smile so I hope this place will put a smile on your face, too. There is a lot of bounce in this location which made getting accurate coordinates difficult. If anyone comes up with better ones, please let me know. Because of the bounce, I will give you as much info as possible to get you close to GZ. The cache is about 20 feet up from the trail. No bushwhacking necessary and I didn't see any poison oak. You should be able to easily walk right up to the cache. It is between waist and shoulder high and can be found without any damage to the environment. Please be kind to the trees and moss in this location. Do not break off any bark. The cache is covered but the cover material is easily removed. The container is a camoed cache tube about 3-4 inches long. It contains only a log. Bring your own writing stick. Please replace it exactly as you found it. Here is a photo of the location:
