This cache site brings you to the Grayson Veterans Park located on Main street in Grayson. This park is the result of many hours of hard work by volunteers that wanted to have a place to honor the men and women of Grayson and Carter County that have served our country in the military.
There is a beautifully illustrated mural along the wall inside the park that offers a timeline from WWI through the ongoing conflicts of today. Take time to admire the artist’s handiwork here. The park has several large old trees that have stood here for as long as anyone can remember, and there is a brick walkway containing names of several Carter county veterans. It’s nice to sit and relax on the benches that encircle the walkway.
During parades and public gatherings in Grayson, this park can be filled with people. It’s a very popular place for folks to gather and visit with friends before the parades and politicians use this area as a soapbox for their speeches.
We don’t recommend you attempt to find this cache during those times. No amount of stealth would be sufficient. However, most times, you can grab this one without drawing attention to yourself. BYOP
This cache is wheelchair accessible if you enter from the rear of the park. The side and front entrances have a few steps up to the park.
Enjoy this one, and take time to reflect and give thanks to all those that have given so much for our country, and our freedom.
