Stage 01 is a virtual stage. The final cache is a small (600mL) food box. All the other stages are APS or 35mm film cans.
The coordinates of all the intermediate stages are hidden, but the route can be determined from the parking places which are all within 0.1 miles of their stage.
Since it may be possible to search for, and find, a later stage using the parking information, each stage has two numbers (north and west) between 1 and 999. All the norths must be added together to obtain the final cache's north millidegrees and, like a car mileometer, any carries above 999 get thrown away. Thus 900 + 246 = 146 (not 1146). Similarly for the final cache's west millidegrees.
I expect that this cache will not be frequently done, and when done will be done by car. The non-stop journey takes about an hour, stopping for each cache will easily double this. However it doesn't all have to be done in one hit. Someone who also commutes from Guildford to Crawley could do one stop/stage per day only adding 5 minutes to their normal journey. The keen could try by bicycle!
Some of the stages are close to or involve the crossing of fast and busy roads. This cache should not be undertaken by children without adult supervision.
Since it is possible that a stage may go missing, I am including a "word" in each stage. If you think that a stage is missing - please notify me of this - you can look up its content on the internet using the words from the previous two stages. So if two stages ago was "frog" and the previous stage was "tree" then access www.stocton.org/tlawr/frogtree.txt for the information. If this cache is "fold", then the next stage's file will be treefold.txt etc. The internet files do NOT include the "word" for that stage, so you can't do the entire thing from your sitting room. It has become apparent that the web address must be all lower case to work.
I have set the difficulty very high (5) because there are so many stages and it seems it will take, maybe, four hours. Consider doing other caches en route too. Each individual stage comes with major hints, so it shouldn't be too hard.
The summary map below the list of parking places appears to malfunction over a distance of 30 miles. It does work in dynamic mode and I include a capture of the dynamic mode map.
The word for the stage before stage 01 (word 00) is "comb".
Stage 01 is a bus shelter, inside at the front middle top is a plaque.
The last word of the top line is 7 letters.
Word 01 = first 4 letters of that word.
On the last line is a telephone number ABCD EFGHIJK.
N addend = FJD, W addend = CHE
Stage 02 is at N 51 CE.BKD, W 0 (G-1)(I-2).DJF.
5 foot up hanging in a tree.
Congratulations to CaveSpiders who was FTF, even if a web-flaw allowed him to do all the stages from the comfort of his PC!
Congratulations to UberJason and SkunkFu, who are the first to complete the cache properly, including all the stages. Apparently it took them 4 hours and they get the FTF trophy.
Good hunting. You may also be interested in my other caches.
If you plan to do this cache, may I suggest that you email me about a week beforehand so that I can check that the stages are all there.
