L'église du Sacré-Cœur est une église inachevée, affectée au culte catholique. Jusqu'à la construction de l'église actuelle, bâtie entre 1922 et 1934, la seule église du quartier est l'église Sainte-Anne (ou du Sacré-Cœur de Sainte-Anne) elle-même inachevée et détruite en 1939.
L'église trouve son origine dans le vœu prononcé par l'Association des Veuves de guerre en 1916. Si la France sort victorieuse de la Grande guerre, elle promettent d'ériger une église votive.
Malheureusement, quand on pose la première pierre en 1922, on doit déjà faire des économies. À la place de la pierre de taille, on utilise de la pierre reconstituée, caractérisée par sa couleur blanche, fournie par l'entreprise Boschetto à Aix-les-Bains. Le transept est béni le 6 juin 1934 mais faute d'argent, il faut arrêter les travaux qui ne seront jamais repris.
En 1969 l'échec s'impose, la construction ne sera jamais terminée : les deux tiers de la parcelle qui auraient dû abriter la nef sont cédés à la Ville de Lyon et transformés en jardin public.

The Church of the Sacred Heart is an unfinished church, assigned to the Catholic faith. Until the construction of the present church, built between 1922 and 1934, the only local church is the church of Sainte-Anne (or the Sacred Heart of St. Anne) itself unfinished and destroyed in 1939.
The church has its origins in the hope given by the Association of Widows of war in 1916. If France emerged victorious in the Great War, it promises to build a church votive.
Unfortunately, when we laid the foundation stone in 1922, one has already to save money. Instead of stone, use of stone, characterized by its white color, provided by the company Boschetto in Aix-les-Bains. The transept is blessed June 6, 1934 but lack of money, stop the work that will never be repeated.
In 1969 the failure is required, the building will never be completed: two-thirds of the plot that should have been harboring the nave are transferred to the City of Lyon and transformed into a public garden.
