The Krom River Trail
The Krom River hiking trail is a beautiful intermediate day trail in the Limietberg Nature Reserve. It makes a fantastic hike on a hot summers day; it does not take long to get to the end where you can have a picnic/lunch at a stunning waterfall with a beautful pool below it just begging to be swum in (if you can handle the icy cold mountain water). The complete trail should take around 5 hours so get up there early and you'll find there's plenty time to rlie around, relax and enjoy the tranquility of the area.
The trail begins at the same place as the Elands Rivier trail just after the Worcester exit of the Huguenot tunnel on the N1. From the parking area the trail leads down towards the Smalblaar river crossing it before swinging left back towards the tunnel; a sign indicates the direction of the Krom River Trail. The first section of the footpath follows the right bank of the Smalblaar River in the direction of the old tunnel. When it reaches the confluence with the Krom River the path veers right alongside the Krom river and leads on for about 2.5km to the first waterfall. Towards the end of the kloof the vegetation becomes thicker and the last section of the path leads through indigenous riverine forest to the first waterfall.

GPS signal is not particularly good because of the surrounding cliffs and tree cover so you can pretty much forget about using your GPS to find this one. The coords I took on the day were completely out when I got home and plotted them on a map so I have adjusted using satellite view to the point at which I think the cache has been placed. For proximity reasons the cache has been placed slightly back from the first waterfall. You need to follow the path and cross the river at the base of the chains (as you would most likely do regardless to fully appreciate the view of the waterfall). Standing on the rocks in front of the waterfall, turn around and look back; you should see the view in the spoiler pic. The cache is located at the base of the tree indicated by the red arrow. To get there you will need to follow the geotrail slightly below you and to your left. It will lead you to the base of the cliffs and then onwards to the cache. Please be careful as the slope is quite steep and fairly slippery. Feel free to take your own coords as post them in your log. If others find them more useful than the published coords I will update the listing accordingly.
FTF honours go to Zambesiboy and Ralph1dc. Congrats!
