This cache is 200m from the old road up a little used
footpath. It passes along the side of a delightful small
gorge with a strange mix of plants - natural species and those
escaped from the buildings further up. A small stream tumbles
down the steep hillside before disappearing under the A590.
The path can be muddy in places.
Turn in front of the hotel onto a short abandoned stretch of old
road. Park near the stile. Once onto the path follow up
alongside the wall. At the next stile, duck or grouse.
The cache will be found a little further up on the left. A
white silver birch is nearby, and spot several non-native species
in the gorge. Cache is not near or in the wall. Please
rehide well. Nice views across the estuary as you
descend.
If you wish you can continue up to Crag and then down the track
below Newland Alps to the
main road, and return on the Coastal Way path back to Arrad Foot,
although it does involve crossing the d/c and would be a noisy
finish.
