A River Runs Through It is a camouflaged bison hidden along the Turnagain Arm Trail between the Rainbow and McHugh Creek trailheads. The cache is also accesible from the Sunshine access point.
The cache is very near where the Sunshine access trail meets the Turnagain Arm Trail. The closest way to this cache is from Sunshine.
The trip from the Rainbow trailhead has a 900 ft elevation gain in the first mile and it is approximately 2-1/4 miles from there to the cache.
The coordinates for this cache were averaged for at least 5 minutes with two different GPS'. The coordinates for both were almost the same. But keep in mind, caching along the Turnagain Arm Trail can be challenging due to less than perfect gps reception. Those of you who have spent some time along the trail know what I mean!
Watch your step in the area of the cache. There are many wet and soft spots along with many holes in the area. The cache is winter accessible but it may get slippery getting to it. I will comment more about this after checking the cache this winter!
When I saw the interesting bit of nature at GZ I knew I had to place a cache here. I have never quite found anything like it before. I hope you find it as interesting as I did.
This cache is placed under Chugach State Park Permit #11-007.
Come find this cache and visit the others in the area. You will not be disappointed by the views and the workout you will have while doing so!!!!!
Congrats to williwaw on the FTF!!!
