The Ex-Shanklin 'Girls' (The Nickster (N), and Mum (H) of SPO and Mum), having been friends for 40 years (50 years in spring 2021!), placed some caches to celebrate.
We spent lots of time in Battery Gardens, and it's still a popular spot for the local youth to hang out - so watch out for muggles coming from several directions.
There are some sneaky ankle-twisting holes in the ground close to the cache site, so mind your step!
In order to claim the Nostalgia - Bonus cache (GC3HT2J) you need to find (nearly) all 13 of the other Nostalgia caches and make a note of the letters and numbers from their log books and/or cache containers.
If completing this series as a circular walk, we suggest the following caches next:
Clockwise; GC301VC Nostalgia - Near The Pier. Go NE along the cliff top and through Ferncliff Gardens where you will find steps and ramp down to the esplanade.
Anti-clockwise; GC301TV Nostalgia - Sandown High. Cross the main road at the pelican crossing, go through The Heights car park to the NW corner, follow the path signposted Los Altos Park & Trim Trail, head downhill (great sledging!) and NW through the park. Turn L to (carefully!) cross the railway line, follow lanes W over 3 roads to emerge at the south end of Lake Common.
