Mile 8 is a traditional cache located on the Turnagain Arm Trail between the Rainbow and Windy trailheads. The cache is located approximately 1/2 mile from the Rainbow trailhead, above the trail at the mile 8 trail marker.
After placing this cache and finding my way back to the trail, I am thinking I should have called it 'Rose Bush'. That being said, if thorns bother you skip this cache!!!!
This cache may or may not be winter accesible. The cache itself is but getting to it could be interesting!!
Caching along the Turnagain Arm Trail can be challenging due to less than perfect gps reception. Those of you who have spent some time along the trail know what I mean! The coordinates for this cache were averaged for 15 minutes. Should you find significantly different coordinates please list them in your log.
The cache container is a camouflaged duct tape covered Jiff peanut butter jar.
There is a micro FTF geocoin for the FTF, an untrackable coin, a wrist band, a flashlight and some other items one might find they need along the trail.
This cache is placed under Chugach State Park Permit #11-007.
Come visit this cache and the others in the area. You will not be disappointed with the views you experience along the Turnagain Arm Trail!!!
Congrats to fuzzybelly on the FTF!!!
