At one time,there were 6 ancient tombs here which date from the late 6th century.
5 tombs were destroyed due to the construction of a housing site. Now,only 1 tomb remains.
Fortunately,this tomb has many artifacts because it has never been vandalized or robbed.

岩津古墳群は6基からなり、矢作川左岸の高位段丘とその北側の三河山地から連なる丘陵に分布する。
現在では、1号墳以外は消滅している。
