The Lula Lake Land Trust has always been friendly to caching and this one, like the others on the LLLT land, was placed with permission of the land owners and land-trust manager. You are seeking a plastic container. This new one replaces the original Lula Falls cache, which was archived at the request of the property management.
This one is the easiest to reach of the 6 caches now on this property; you are walking on a broad, nearly level trail. The cache is within 10 feet of the trail, on the side of the trail away from the creek and waterfall. GPS reception may be sketchy as the signal bounces around the rock walls. The cache coordinates are averaged from multiple readings but accuracy ranged from 12-31'.
The Lula Lake area is best known for the two waterfalls there, and this cache will take you toward lovely views of the larger of the 2 waterfalls. (For a truly amazing view, continue on to 'Grandeur of Lula Lake' but be aware it is MUCH harder to reach...)
LIMITED ACCESS: Public access is only available the first and last Saturdays of the month and reservations are required via the website posted. Please do not attempt this cache any other time! Arrangements might be made for group access at other times by contacting the management, see the web page for more information. The location is well worth planning a visit to; there are miles of trails with excellent views of Chattanooga Valley, a thriving chestnut orchard, etc.
RULES:
- * No swimming in Lula Lake *
- * Foot/bicycle travel only
- * No rock climbing/rappelling
- * Please keep pets on a leash
- * Help keep the Trust clean by packing out what you pack in, in other words please CITO :)
The little town of Flintstone GA is directly below, but this cache cannot be reached from the school! The only access is through the gates off Lula Lake Road (see waypoint). It is less than 6 miles from Rock City, on the top of Lookout Mountain.
