Wakehams Hill offers a good viewpoint across Pinner Park Farm, and can be the start of a good sledging run following a heavy snowfall!
It also used to feature in the cross-country run route for pupils of Nower Hill High School (it may still do!)
Street parking available in Wakehams Hill road, about 30m from the GZ
Pinner Park farm used to be the deer park of the lord of the Manor of Harrow. A 250-acre haven, protected from the villagers by a high bank and two ditches. The remains of the old bank still exist, although I couldn't tell you where!
The land is now owned by London Borough of Harrow and leased to the farmer. For years it was run as a dairy farm under the name Hall and Sons. Dairying stopped a few years ago, but the agricultural use of the land continues.
The parkland provides a varied habitat for wildlife, according to the London Bird Club Wiki (visit link) Inhabitants include the Little Owl, Kingfishers, Hobbies, Frogs, Sticklebacks and Bats.
The cache is a small clip-lock box with camo tape. It includes a pencil for log signing and some small swaps. Please replace carefully.
