Go over the canal bridge (take heed, no footpath over bridge), through gate to access towpath alongside lock (again caution needed here especially if accompanied by children).
There is a picnic table alongside the lock which is an ideal place to watch the passage of boats.
Dogs can run free on towpath.

If so desired, after CZ continue on approx. 1 mile to Barbridge junction, there is a seat here and another good spot to watch the boats negotiating the bridge and bend. Keeping on towpath, over the junction bridge, will bring you to a canalside pub.
