Objavte zakutia, kde ste mozno nikdy predtym neboli, preskumajte, co prave kvitne v predzahradkach, vsimnite si povabne detaily na starych vilkach, pokochajte sa vyhladmi na mesto z uhlov, ktore nebyvaju na pohladniciach. Stromy spoznate podla cedulky so statnym znakom umiestnenom na viditelnom mieste priamo na kmeni.
Let us invite you for a walk through the calm streets of Bratislava. Find the nooks where you have probably never been, explore what is abloom in the front gardens, notice charm details at the old villas and take a pleasure in view of the town from the angles one cannot see at a postcard. Moreover, there is a natural geo-trail of dendrology waiting for you. All Protected trees are declared by the Regional Environmental Office. You can identify them by a small sign with the national emblem. It is situated right on a trunk at visible place.
Stage 1: tri stromy v jednej zahrade - three trees in one garden
Dub letny – Quercus robur
Zvlastnostou dubu je jeho neopadave listie. Nech uz pridete k stromu kedykolvek, vzdy na nom nejake bude – stare listy totiz opadaju az vtedy, ked na jar vyrastu nove. Velmi dobre to vedel chlapik z rozpravky, ktory slubil dat Luciferovi svoju dusu, ked opadne listie z duba. Cert tuto botanicku informaciu neovladal a tak sa figliarovej duse nikdy nedockal. Zrejme to vsak neplati pre vsetky druhy dubov - tento tu je v zime holy.
English Oak – Quercus robur
What`s interesting about the oak: its leaves never fall. May you come in any season, you will always find some there – old leaves don`t fall before young grow. A lad from a fairy tale knew this very well. He promised to give the Devil his soul when an oak lost its leaves. Devil was not familiar with this botanical information and so he never could take the josher`s soul. It seems though that it is not typical for all the oaks - this one is naked during the winter.
Judasovec strukovy – Cercis siliquastrum
Toto je strom zaujimavy najma svojimi kvetmi – presnejsie povedane sposobom, ako rastu. Pokial zahradnik udrziava judasovec ako pen, fialove kvety pripominajuce kvety hrachu vyrastaju priamo z neho. Tento jav ma svoje odborne pomenovanie – kaulifloria.
Judas Tree – Cercis siliquastrum
This tree is very interesting thanks to its flowers – or better to the way they flourish. If a gardener keeps the Judas tree as a trunk, its purple flowers resembling the pea flowers grow right from the trunk. This phenomenon is called cauliflory.
Laliovnik tulipanokvety – Liriodendron tulipifera
Strom, ktory sa oplati prist pozriet najma na jar, ked sa medzi listim objavuju biele alebo bledozlte velke kvety podobne tulipanom. Teda nie laliam, ako by mohol naznacovat jeho slovensky nazov. Ide totiz o omyl. Latinsky nazov liriodendron vznikol odvodenim od slova lyra, pretoze listy stromu sa ponasaju na tento hudobny nastroj. Kedy a ako vznikla chyba v slovenskom (i ceskom) nazvoslovi, nie je zname.
Tulip Tree – Liriodendron tulipifera
This tree is recommended to be visited particularly during the spring when white or pale-yellow flowers appear among the leaves. Flowers look like the tulips, not lilies as Slovak name could suggest. In fact, this is an error. Latin term Liriodendron was created from a word lyre, because its leaves resemble this musical instrument. When and how the mistake in Slovak terminology (and Czech as well) happened, no one knows.
Vsetky tri stromy najdete vysadene v jednej zahrade, kde sa okrem nich nachadzaju aj detske preliezacky. Vsimnite si tu, ktora ma podobu visuteho mostika a je natreta na cerveno. Kolko parov retazi sa na nej nachadza? Ak pojdete na odlov za tmy, vezmite si baterku, preliezka sa nachadza dalej od plota. Pocet parov retazi = A.
All three trees are in the garden where you can also find childrens` slides. Notice the red one in the shape of a hanging bridge. If you visit this stage at the dark, you will need a torch. How many pairs of chains can you see? This number = A.
Stage 2:
Dub jadranský – Quercus virgiliana
Opat jeden dub, tentoraz vsak s hlbsie povykrajovanymi listami a so zaludami rastucimi na dlhsej stopke. Velmi sa ponasa na dub plstnaty, s ktorym patri do jednej skupiny. Ako napoveda jeho nazov, pochadza z juhovychodu Europy. Napriek tomu, ze rastie stisnuty medzi domom a schodistom, narastol do impozantnej vysky.
Ak sa prejdete ulicou este trochu vyssie do kopca, na lavej strane za hotelom objavite domcek c. p. 17, ktory ma na najvrchnejsom poschodi isty dreveny prvok. Je to socha = 8, okenica = 2, alebo balkonik = 4? Toto cislo = B
Oak – Quercus virgiliana
One more oak, this one has leaves with deeper lobes and the acorns grow on longer pedicle. It is very similar to Downy Oak with which it belongs to the same group. As the Slovak term suggests, oak comes from the south-east of Europe. It grows between the staircase and a house, nevertheless its height is imposing.
If you walk up the street a bit further, at left side behind the hotel you can find a house nr. 17 with certain wooden articles at the top floor. Is it a statue = 8; shutter = 2; balcony = 4? This number = B.
Stage 3:
Lipa malolistá – Tilia cordata
Strom Slovanov nemozno v dobe kvitnutia prehliadnut vdaka vonavym kvetom. Skuste si z nich pripravit cukriky proti kaslu. Staci v jednej nadobe zohriat 400 g medu, do druhej uvarit 100 ml silneho lipoveho caju v ktorom rozpustimee 100 g agaru a v tretom hrnci urobit rovnake mnozstvo odvaru z korena ibisteka. Vsetko zmiesame dokopy a vylejeme na ploche taniere vymastene slnecnicovym olejom. Ked hmota stuhne, nakrajame ju na kocky a uchovavame v plechovici.
Rastie strom na urovni chodnika (= 7), pod jeho urovnou (= 5) alebo nad jeho urovnou (= 1)? Toto cislo = C.
Small-leaved Lime – Tilia cordata
Lime – tree of Slavs cannot be overlooked at spring thanks to its honey-scented flowers. You can try to prepare home-made cough drops from them. Just warm up 400 g of honey in one bowl; in another prepare 100 ml of strong lime flower infusion with 100 g of agar; in third the same amount of hibiscus infusion. Mix all the substances together and pour it into the greased plates. When stiffened, cut it into small cubes and store in a tin box.
Does this tree grow at the street level (= 7), under the street level (= 5) or above the street level (= 1)? This number = C.
