Backfields, this public open space offers tremendous views of Rochester castle, St Margrets church, and Shorts Reach on the River Medway.
This cache is placed on the edge of Churchfields, in Historic Rochester. Overlooking Shorts Reach, which is a stretch of the River Medway where the famous Shorts flying boats were made, and tested. Taking off and landing on this part of the river. Flying boats such as the Sunderland, the Canopus and the Mercury were all made by Shorts Bros.
As a child this was the best sledging hill around.
Parking is available in St Margrets Street, or Watts Avenue at the top, or on the Esplanade at the bottom, which is better as long as you don't mind the hill.
There is room for small swag or TB's at time of placing , cache contained a rubber duck, and a dice, log book but NO PEN, so please bring your own.
