Geocache Description:

This is a standard ammo box cache, located high on the slopes of Worcester Mountain.  There is a well-blazed trail that leads through the CC Putnam State Forest along Hancock Brook and up the side of the mountain to the hiding location for the cache.

To reach the cache, head north out of Montpelier on route 12.  Take a left onto Hancock Brook Road to where it joins with Hampshire Hill Road, then turn left onto Mountain Road.  Park at N44.25.226 W72.34.318.  This is the parking area for an well-marked trailhead.

The trail up from the parking area will take you up about two miles, but the trail is actually fairly gradual until the last third of the way, when it does become a little steep. There are repeated stream crossings but all the crossings are of the broad-jump kind if you're athletic or the step-on-one-stone-and-you're-across kind if you're not.

If you continue up the trail another third of a mile or so you'll be at the top of Worcester Mountain, where there are scenic views.

Cache history: This cache (originally named "Face It Daryll and Darryll") was originally placed in January of 2002 by "Daryll and Darryll", (geocaching.com login PlaOutDrz) in the form of an aspirin bottle tied to the root of a fallen tree high up on Worcester Mountain.  At the time the cache was placed, the placers invited anyone who wished to to take up an ammo box and log, and said that if no one did, they'd do it in June of 2002.  This never happened -- somewhere along the way the placers sort of vanished.  Presumably they're still wandering around on the mountain somewhere.

Lemur took an ammo box with logbook, pencils, pencil sharpeners, toys, geocaching.com stash note, etc. up on April 10, 2004 and found the area high up on the mountain to be just as snowy as it'd apparently been when the original placers took their aspirin bottle up.  Lemur found the fallen tree at the coordinates but its roots were buried under four feet of snow, making retrieval of the original "aspirin bottle" cache a little difficult.  If anyone finds the original "aspirin bottle" cache, they're welcome to tuck it into the ammo box.

In January 2005 WE, DJ and CAL agreed to take over the cache, We are also changing the name to add our own. Any Bob Newhart show fans are welcome to post their thoughts.
