The hike from Maloja over the Lunghin Pass and the Septimer Pass to Casaccia ranks among the most spectacular mountain pass walks in the Alps.
On the Lunghin Pass, there is a quite remarkable feature to be seen: Europe’s only three-way water divide is situated at precisely the pass height.
To the east, the water flows into the Inn and via the Danube into the Black Sea. To the north-west, the water flows into the Julia and then the Rhine, which eventually reaches the North Sea. The water in the Mera flows south-west into Lake Como and via the Po into the Mediterranean.
To reach the pass, take the steep path from the Maloja Pass until you get to Lake Lunghin. Then proceed through large areas of debris to climb to the Pass Lunghin.
From Lunghin Pass you can ascend to the Piz Lunghin, incredible vantage point overlooking the entire Upper Engadine. Then go down for a long and interesting hiking to Casaccia, by crossing the Septimer Pass.
From Casaccia you can return to the Maloja Pass by means of the convenient Postale coach.

L'escursione alpina da Maloja a Casaccia attraverso il Pass Lunghin e il Pass Septimer è una delle più spettacolari delle Alpi.
Sul Pass Lunghin (2645m slm) c'è una particolarità speciale da ammirare. Esattamente sul passo si trova l'unico triplice spartiacque d'Europa.
Verso est l'acqua si riversa nell'Inn e via Danubio nel Mar Nero. Verso nordovest l'acqua si riversa nella Julia, poi nel Reno che alla fine sfocia nel Mare del Nord. L'acqua della Mera si riversa, a sudovest, nel Lago di Como e da li via Po nel Meditteraneo.
Per raggiungere il passo si imbocca un ripido sentiero che parte dal passo Maloja fino ad arrivare al Lago Lunghin. Si prosegue poi attraverso ampie zone detritiche per salire fino al Pass Lunghin.
Dal Pass Lunghin si può salire fino al Piz Lunghin, incredibile punto panoramico sovrastante tutta l'alta Engadina oppure scendere per un lungo e interessante sentiero fino a Casaccia, attraversando il Pass Septimer.
Da Casaccia si può tornare al Passo Maloja con il comodo Postale.
