Geocache Description:

The Breeders' Cup World Championships is an annual series of Thoroughbred horse races that usually takes place the first weekend of November each year. The event was created as a year-end championship for North American Thoroughbred racing and is widely-considered the "Super Bowl" of horse racing as the races typically have the largest purses and draw the best Thoroughbreds from across the world. In 2011, the 28th Breeders' Cup World Championship is being held in Louisville, KY, at the home of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs.

This cache series is a tribute to each horse running in the Breeders' Cup Classic, the richest and best race on the card, as well as horse racing handicapping tips that you might, at some point in time, find useful.

Game On Dude is a four year old Kentucky bred owned by Diamond Pride, trained by Bob Baffert, and ridden by jockey Chantal Sutherland. Game On Dude has 13 career starts, including a win in his most recent start, the 2011 Goodwood Stakes (GI). Over his career, he has won $1,234,658 and five races. He is listed on the morning line as having 10-1 odds to win the race, but he could be considered a factor because of his recent works.

This brings us to our horse handicapping lesson for this cache. What are recent works, you ask? "Works" for a race horse are any time a horse is taken to a racetrack to have a timed workout published to the public. "Works" are used to keep a horse in racing shape or build its fitness. The best works are considered "bullets" because they are the fastest time by any horse that trained at a certain distance for each given day. They are also marked with a "bulletpoint" next to the time and distance of the published workout. A horse's "works" often demonstrate to the public that a horse is in training and ready for a race. The works can be found in the Daily Racing Form's Past Performances immediately under the horse's racing history.
