Short walk in the middle of the Perkiomen Creek from the designated parking area. You are looking for a bison tube.
OK, so it's not literally a walk "IN" the Perkiomen Creek. I hid this cache to replace one of my nearby "Moose" caches that was muggle- and flood-prone. This one is much more muggle-proof, but only somewhat more floodproof, as this island was underwater after Hurricane Irene swept through in August 2011. GPSr had 20-foot accuracy when hidden, but this is not a hard find, and should be available in winter.
As a part of the discussion with the park ranger in obtaining permission for this cache, it was mentioned that this island is named "Garringer Island". I could not find any reference to this name on the interwebs, so if any finder knows the background on this name, please feel free to post a (non-fictional) note and I may update cache page.
Alternate parking is just down Rt. 113 at the Rahn's Trailhead parking area for the Perkiomen Trail.
Cache is located in a part of the widely-dispersed Central Perkiomen Valley Park, and was placed with permission of Montgomery County Parks & Heritage Services. Please comply with all park rules and regulations, which are posted on a sign at the parking coordinates/trail head.
Update July 2013: Moved to new spot 20 feet away, just out of current range of knotweed. No need to enter the knotweed.
