Geocache Description:

A larger sized bison tube with a view to give you some food for thought.

Right on the shore of Kamloops Lake Tranquille lies right in the heart of the Lac Du Bois Grasslands Park. The park has a few interesting things for you to see especially the spectacular Tranquille Canyon.

To help in the fight against the spread of tuberculosis, the King Edward Sanatorium operated in Tranquille from 1907 to 1957. Then the facilities were then later used as a hospital for mentally handicapped people until 1984.

After that it was a little city which was called Padova and home to many who didn't mind a bit of a drive for cheap rent.

Since then the property has had a number of development plans and, in 2005, the old King Edward Sanatorium grounds were used as part of a movie set, shooting of a pilot for a television series and some makeup commercials.

The latest plans for Tranquille are for the establishment of a Ecological Agricultural Resort Community called Tranquille on the Lake. The resort concept is planned to include a marina and entrance to Cooney Bay Beach on Kamloops Lake.

The Cooney family have a small Homestead cemetery on the Tranquille site. A large number of grave-sites for others were relocated to the Provincial Old Man's site on Sixth avenue in Kamloops. There are old pictures in the Kamloops Archives and on the web showing lovely large headstones and grave sites that are said to be still on the Tranquille grounds..wonder where they are? Take your binos and see if you can find them.
