Geocache Description:


There are a lot of caches hidden at Quarry Lakes Regional Park, but there was room for another. Quarry Lakes has a long history in Fremont. It's roots lie when gravel was taken from the banks of Alameda Creek and used in the construction of the transcontinental railroad's western section.

After quarrying came to an end, the lakes began to be used for groundwater recharge by the Alameda County Water District, which diverts water from Alameda Creek into the pits.

It's a great place to hike and ride... and hide a cache or two. This cache is a camouflaged container. Original contents include a camo bouncy ball, an alien, and a compass ring... ooo, that could come in handy sometime. :) Please use natural material to hide again if necessary. It is relatively close to the parking area so some stealthiness may be required at peak visiting times.

There is a $5 entry fee to the park if you enter from Quarry Lakes Drive. Free parking is available at the Isherwood Staging area on Isherwood Way.
