Geocache Description:

This coordinates above are for the parking lot at the visitor’s center. You will need to visit three locations within the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery to get all of the information for the final cache coordinates. Please bring a pen.

Please be respectful of the site and those who are there to remember or mourn. Our continued presence on these grounds depends upon our respect of the same. It is sacred ground and should be treated that way.

Your first stop from the parking lot will be at the 9/11 Memorial. The memorial includes pieces of steel from the fallen World Trade Center. Nearly 3000 people died on that fateful day, which has been compared as the Pearl Harbor of our time. Some who have sacrificed their lives in the Wars that resulted and followed are interred in this very cemetery.

On the back side of the steel cross are a letter and a number. That number is the first of the pieces of information you are looking for. [A]

The second stop is to the columbarium in the southwest portion of the site. Walk over and feel free to wander the area and view the beautiful architecture. Veterans from the wars that span the last century and the current one are interred in the columbarium.

On the ceiling of the pavilion there is a stained glass window. There is a number that repeats itself within the stained glass window in several ways. That number is the second piece of information you are looking for.

The final stop is to the Veteran’s Memorial along the southwest portion of the central walking track. This memorial pays homage to members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and the Coast Guard. While you are there you may also wish to visit the Prisoner Of War memorial just a few feet further to the north.

Within the Veteran’s Memorial there is a gentleman who is saluting symbols of the five service branches. You are looking for the number of buttons on his suit vest as the final piece of information you need. [C]

The final coordinates for the cache location is 37*52.00[A-77], 85*57.6[B+4][C+4]

Please restore the cache when you are complete with your log.
