A month ago this particular area was off limits to most visitors to
Chestnut Ridge Park. Unless the Commissioner's Cabin was being
utilized the gates to this area were generally locked.
That all changed one weekend in October when hundreds of Boy
Scouts assisted by the Safari Club International and The HF Darling
Corp held a weekend encampment in the park to work on more than a
few projects. One of the more notable projects was the creation of
a handicapped accessible fishing pier located near the posted
coords. Now that the fishing dock is in use the gates to this area
have been swung open and we have a little more room to play.
Near the posted coords you will note two objects that will help
you learn the location of the first leg. The first is the fishing
dock itself and the second is a memorial marker commemorating the
dock's construction. It's a little math but I'm sure you can handle
it. Once you found the first leg there will be one more micro to
find which will lead you to the final, a stuffed ammo can. can.
Allright here you go..... The first leg is located at N42 42.ABC
W078 44.DEF
A = The number of letters in the red lettered word at the lower
left on the logo on the Legacy 11 marker.
BC = The number of letters in the 6th line from the bottom on
the same marker.
To solve for DEF you'll have to step out onto the fishing dock
and start counting BALUSTERS. You do know what a baluster is don't
you. Here's a hint don't count the 4 x 4's only the 2" pieces.
Anyway here's what you need to know...
DEF = Count the number of balusters on the longest side of the
dock and double that number then add the number of balusters on the
shortest side to your previous total. (Sides that look equal my not
actually be equal, count them to be sure.
Piece of cake right?
