Geocache Description:

Small Tupperware originally containing kid friendly swag mostly about frogs.

This "Country" cache is dedicated to my pet frog "Donatella"

I've always loved Bullfrogs. I have enjoyed watching them grow from little tadpoles to fat ol Bullfrogs in our little garden pond.
There's something very relaxing listening to the "croak" of a bullfrog at night accompanied by the chorus's of crickets.

A few years ago we "grew" a huge old Bullfrog called Montegue. As our pond is only 18 inches deep, and plastic lined (no mud)-we brought him inside to bask in a new terrarium so he could survive the long cold winter. How did he thank me for all the worms and crickets I fed him over the winter? He took off in search of a mate, only 3 weeks after he was released back into the garden the next spring.

This spring we found a lovely pond/marsh in the country and spent the next 30 minutes trying to catch another frog without falling into the primordial ooze. After a few precarious misses, we finally caught a little Lady Bullfrog.
I fed her (Donatella) daily with big fat earthworms, and over this past summer she grew like a Sumo Wrestler. Neighbours that would come to visit her, were astounded at how she would turn at the sound of my voice and hop across a few lilly pads to come for her worm.

I knew her chances of surviving winter in our 18 inch deep pond were pretty slim, so in September we took her back to the Marshy pond where we found her. To our suprise the pond was completely DRY! About 1/4 km up the road from where we got her though is a very beautiful pond. With dragonflies and minnows. SO we sadly let her return to the wild there.
It is a beautiful spot on a sunny day. We came back a few weeks later and saw a few frogs-smaller than her in the pond along with some turtles sun bathing on a log.
All in all a little bit of Paradise for my Donatella.

There is a LOONIE for the FTF and some frog type stickers and stamps. There's even a 2nd to find little bag of frog stickers and stamps.
So if your kids want to - please call out a big "HI" to the prettiest bullfrog I know....be my guest. She may even come up and say HI to you too!

There is a house nearby but I think it is abandoned-so you shouldn't feel silly calling out to her!

Please return this cache exactly how you found it-it will aid in keeping it DRY and nicely HIDDEN for the next cacher.
