Another cache on the network of tracks surrounding Wainuiomata. This is the best surfaced track with the easiest gradient of the feeder tracks between Wainuiomata and the Rata Ridge and Main Ridge Tracks. There is a good view of Wainui from just below the summit of Fern Gully Track. Note that at the bottom of the track there is private property either side of the approach, please do not enter the properties.
Start at the noticeboard and proceed straight ahead along the grassed area till you reach the trailhead. Do not use the driveways as these are private property and will not lead you to the trailhead.
Some cachers have already made a pleasant loop walk using this track and Zigzag so here is a cache you can do while doing that loop if you wish, or by itself if you prefer to just go up and down Fern Gully track.
The present cache is close to the edge of the track so no need to wander off it and/or to bushbash. Please leave the cache and the surrounding area as you find it (except of course for doing any necessary CITO...)
GPS reception is unstable here so feel free to use the hint.
