Spontaneously placed cache directly at the parking to Wadi Shab. We
want to show all geocachers the amazing Wadi. The cache itself is
not special, easy to find and directly at the parking, which can be
reached from the Muscat-Sur-Highway easily.
Wadi Shab is one of the most beautiful wadis in Oman. The water
level in the river bed at the beginning is changing with the tide.
When we entered the Wadi it was only 20cm high, when we got back it
reached up to our knees.
Make sure to go into the Wadi for at least 20mins or further, so
that you see the pools of deep green-blue water and the terrassed
fields. Plan for at least 2-3 hours to really enjoy this spot.
The trail is flat at the beginning and is more and more rocky as
you go further into the wadi. Follow the old foot path that is made
of concrete. It's a good place for bathing, however you should not
swim in the first pool where the drinking water is taken out for
the village. In the third pool is a cave that you can enter
swimming, which is one of the highlights of Wadi Shab. The path
continues on for 14km according to our travelguide book.
Small note on cache maintenance: Camel Master has
graciously offered to assist. Thanks!
