Nottingham Council House Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

pinkpigredrat: So after 914 finds it is the end of the road for this one.

I've enjoyed owning Nottingham's most central geocache for the past four and a bit years but as its gone missing and I no longer live in the city its time to free up the area for someone else.

Geocache Description:

The Nottingham Council House was designed by Thomas Cecil Howitt and opened in 1929. Standing at one end of the Old Market Square it is the most iconic building in Nottingham. Housed in the dome on the top of the building is 'Little John' a large bell which forms part of the clock mechanism installed by William Cope. The clock chimes every 15 minutes.

Most of the roads around here are either pedestrian only or public transport only. I would suggest parking at one of the city centre car parks and walking or getting the tram to the Old Market Square stop which is within 150 meters of the cache!

This is a busy area at the best of times so be discreet when finding and replacing. The cache is a small black tube containing a log and pencil only. The container unscrews at one end. When replacing, to avoid the log getting wet, please wrap it in the plastic bag and make sure the lid of the cache is screwed shut, but please don't over tighten it! Thanks!
