This is a wooded area with footpaths which can be muddy after heavy rain but easily accessible.
This is our first hidden cache and Harry and dad wanted to put one close to home and somewhere we can keep an eye on it during one of our walks through these woods. You're looking for a 35mm canister. This area is steeped in military history going back for centuries. The paths through Reinden Wood, a mixed deciduous and coniferous woodland, are a combination of public bridleway and permissive paths. It is a surfaced route for the most part, with some uneven ground. You will see the remains of surface air raid shelters, part of a Second World War military village. This wood is an important habitat for woodland plants and butterflies. Information Boards along the walk provide a description of what to look out for. Nightingales nest in the tree tops. They are very secretive birds but if you are lucky you may hear their beautiful song. When out finding a hiding spot this morning a local even showed us a newly created woodpecker's home! If you follow the footpath there is a short walk of 2 ½ miles which follows the perimeter of the woods. You will need to stay on the marked paths to avoid interfering with occassional military cadet training exercises. Take notice of any signs along the walk. We hope you enjoy your walk around our local woods as much as we do and we look forward to seeing who drops by!
