Geocache Description:

English
Just on the north of Florence, immersed in an wonderful park, there is a strange villa with a squad square tower obliquely in the middle. The tower is what remains of the Brunelleschi castle of ‘300. On 1575 the Ferdinando de’ Medici (future Grand Duke of Tuscany) bought it and built the villa around it. The use was summer residence of Grand Dukes ( de’ Medici until 1745, when the family finished, then of Lorena until Leopoldo II , on 1859, abdicated and Tuscany was peacefully annexed to Kingdom of Italy). Florence was the provisional capital of the Kingdom from 1865 to 1870 and the Petraia became the house of the king Vittorio Emanuele II.
The cache is in the external wall, no far from the entrance of the park, where you leave easily your car.
