Geocache Description:

DEFINITION: Plunge Pool - When water flows over a falls it erodes the area below leaving a hollow spot. The material that was eroded is deposited downstream.

ECHO BASIN PLUNGE POOL

Take a nice loop hike through Echo Basin to the site of an ancient plunge pool, created by a large waterfall during the Ice Age Floods. If you take in the sand dunes to the south, the total round trip hike from the parking area is approx. 3 miles, with very little elevation gain. The trail appears to be an old jeep road. It is off limits to motorized vehicles. Great for hiking. You can try mountain biking, but in some places the road is very rocky, and in others there is soft sand.

This a beautiful desert hike that the whole family will enjoy.
