Geocache Description:

Just to the North of the cache you will found Greenhorn Limestone Quarry which has ceased operation. Pass the old equipment and you will notice layers of limestone on the side hills to your left.

The Ridge Road is a beautiful drive through the “Bohemian Alps”

Thousands of years ago great glaciers carved out beautiful hills and valleys, leaving sprinklings of rocks and minerals and a home for magnificent groves of oaks. This area just northeast of Seward Nebraska is locally known as the Bohemian Alps, a place of quiet and natural beauty for all to enjoy.

If you travel out of the metro area and north on 140th Rd off Hwy 34, then west on Oak Grove Road, savor the Seward County scenery—go slowly...the hills are full of wild turkeys and deer. Look up and you may see a hawk and an occasional vulture circling. At the Wildlife Management Area you’re apt to hear meadowlarks, pheasants or quail. Bobcats, wild boar, and a stray mountain lion have been sited on rare occasions. The quiet is luxurious, broken only by an occasional cricket or the sound of the wind through the trees.
